This thing is HUGE
My hamster, Buffy, got this today for her new 50 gallon bin cage. I wouldn't recommend this for cages much smaller. I don't think I'd put this in my Purvue 528 cage, and it's a nice big cage. I'm just emphasizing, this thing is big. Buffy has ventured in a few times. I hid some treats and mealworms in the furthest compartment to entice her. She seems to like it so far. I'm really really hoping she takes to it and it encourages her to burrow.
As far as my impressions, this thing is impressively solid. The wood is smooth, no splinters and no weird chemical smells. I bought the leg supports so that it's not just sitting on top of the bedding. I used water soluable non-toxic wood glue to keep those in place, as they didn't seem to want to stay on while I was setting up the new cage. I love that the top lid comes off easily for cleaning or access to the hamster if needed. I also love that it creates a kind of platform. It was the perfect spot for Buffy's sand bath. I'm really happy with how this adds to the look/feel of the cage as well. I'm very impressed overall.
