Weight loss and increased activity in our dog!
My 6-year-old Labrador Koda has put on a little weight and even though he’s on a quality dog food, he has terrible gas, he seems lethargic, and has loose stool. I have been slowly switching him over to Nulo by mixing increasing amounts of Nulo with his old food. So far, his stomach has tolerated the Nulo just fine. He absolutely loves the taste! He must be getting the nutrients he needs, because he is eating less. So while this dog food may seem expensive, you actually go it at a slower rate. In less than a month, my dog has lost 5 lbs and he seems more energetic.
When my Vet learned that I moved to a grain-free diet, he was not happy. He lectured my wife for about 20 minutes, citing studies against it. I don’t really know what to believe, but similar to humans with the Ketogenic (low carb) diet, you just don’t need carbs, so why put them in there as fillers?
I wrote to Nulo with my concerns and they promptly responded:

Our recipes are designed with industry-leading levels of animal-based protein (meat), and no plant-protein concentrates, which means your dog on Nulo is getting a significant portion (80-85% on average) of his protein from animal sources. As carnivores, our pets have shorter digestive tracts best equipped at digesting animal-based protein sources. Grain-free formulas often (and certainly in the case of Nulo!) contain more animal-based protein and fats, with fewer carbohydrates than their grain-based counterparts.
